Dungeon Full of Monsters is a modular megadungeon for use with Labyrinth Lord and other old school fantasy role-playing games.

The Dungeon is Modular
The megadungeon is composed of 50 individual sections, separated into 5 different levels. You can assemble these in any configuration you like, either randomly or not, either before the campaign or on-the-fly in play. You can also use these sectiosn on their own, without reference to the larger dungeon itself.

And Full of Monsters
The second half of the book contains dozens of monsters, illustrated in full colour, often with multiple variations and types. Combined with the unique monsters located in specific dungeon sections, this book contains over 150 different monster stat blocks. There are criminal organizations, insane cultists, meddling deities, evil wizards, undead kings, infernal demons and other invaders from beyond the stars, numerous unspeakable horrors and arcane beasts, and even a few rival adventurers. Use these monsters with this dungeon or any other.

Specific conversion guidelines for The Nightmares Underneath are also provided.

Dungeon Full of Monsters was written by Johnstone Metzger and illustrated by Nathan Jones.

The digital pdf is Half-letter sized 5.5 by 8.5 inches, 352 pages, and also comes with a file containing only the dungeon maps, and a file containing only the monster illustrations.

The print version is US Trade sized 6 x 9 inches, 352 pages, and is available in both softcover and hardcover.

Hi Jan,
This book presents Labyrinth Lord versions of material from my Monthly Monsters Patreon. There are Dungeon World versions of the same monsters, but they can be found in their own books (the MM series), and on the Patreon, not in Dungeon Full of Monsters.

If you want to run the dungeons in this book with the Dungeon World rules, you still have to do some conversion work yourself, but having the DW versions can give you a big head start. Also, the advice in the Dungeon World rulebook about converting older modules is good and will apply here, too.

This product does looks very interesting but looking over the preview ... "Eye Fucker" guards?? really? Then "Some fucking wizard has magically drilled a tunnel into the earth. ". I'm not a nanny but seems unnecessary and childish.

This comment seems unnecessary and childish. If you don't like someone's work don't buy it, no need to whine about how others have fun or game.

I am confused here. I know Letter size is 8.5 x 11 and you say it is letter size but then say its 5.5 x 8.5 and that is halfbook. So which size is this?

Oh sorry! That's a typo. It should have said half-letter size. I've corrected it now, thanks!

Are there unlabeled digital maps or all the maps labeled?
Customer avatar
Johnstone M February 03, 2018 10:12 pm UTC
There is an additional file that contains all the maps without the labels.

This looks pretty good but at that price it's a massive no-no.

I just purchased "Wizard-spawned Insanities" and like it a lot, and noticed a few of the creatures in the preview up there. Will this contain the rest of your creatures from the succeeding monster books? Is the supplemental material in those books also duplicated here? and inevitable question: will there be a Dungeon World version? If so, shut up and take my money.

Hi James, sorry for the late response. This is the Labyrinth Lord version of the Dungeon World monster manuals, so they are already the DW version of this.

This looks absolutely amazing. I just have one question though. Are there players maps? If not, I have to pass.

Hi Brian, sorry for the late reply. There is an additional file that has the maps without the labels on them, yes.

Hey, I just had some questions on the use of empty passageways.
First, when I roll to find out where a given areas entrances lead, are those rolled areas "on the map" for the purposes of open entrances/exits?
Second, if (let's say) Woodshed entrance 2 leads (via roll) to prismatic pools 1, is that entrance still "open"?
Put another way, is an that entrance still usable for the purpose of connecting empty passageways? And is the reverse (and entrance used to connect an empty passageway) still rolled for when entering that area?

Hi! Only entrances that do not yet lead anywhere are considered "open." So, once the party enters an area, you roll to see where all that area's passages connect to, then put those passages on the map. They are then fixed in place, which means they are no longer open, and will not connect to further empty passageways. Sorry if that wasn't clear!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
