 GM's Map #72, The Embassy

The grand building stands in a prominent place in the city. From within its walls, the Ambassador and his diplomatic staff oversee the mission of their government in this foreign land.

The embassy is a hotbed of intrigue and political wrangling where diplomatic decisions that could change the world for good or ill are made. Rumour has it that intelligence officers work out of the Embassy, and of course, it is one of the first places that citizens of the Embassies government turn when they are in trouble abroad.

This map pack includes both blueprint style and full-colour maps as well as a PDF containing a key, information about the work of diplomatic missions and 11 scenario ideas. Sample Adventure Ideas:

7/. We're Not Who We Are Your party have taken up their dream postings - embassy staff in an exotic location, minimum work, lots of partying. But strange things are happening. People are disappearing, or turning up - different. Everyone's smiles are too wide and too glib. The local police seem efficient but can't seem to comprehend the issues you take to them. Is there a cult? Are they cursed? Are they going mad? (M R McGowan)

10/. Well That's Torn It The PCs are long-serving embassy staff. Hard working, honest, patriotic, ideological pure... probably spies. The cypher room have some really bad news though – their government has just collapsed! Now the PCs and a number of NPCs are stuck abroad in an embassy for a country that is falling apart, sliding into civil war, and they aren't quite sure who's side they are supposed to be on. Meanwhile, the host country would really like to know what is going on and just who now runs the Embassies sending country. Is there by chance a version of this with textures rather than having the rooms blanketed in one color?

Hi Christian,
Not at the moment, as this is one of the older maps. However, there certainly can be, as updating it is on my "To Do" list anyway. How soon do you need it? I may be able to juggle some jobs around.

There's no rush, but I do look forward as this looks like a great map for a Cyberpunk Red game I run. Thank you for replying and looking out for your future work!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
